What are Goals based on?

IEP goals are set using the PLOP

• Looking at current skills and specific areas of weakness
  
• Not just in academic subjects but in other areas too, such as social skills
  
• Your child’s PLOP helps map of what needs to happen to get those skills where they are now to being closer to grade level
  

Goals should Be

• S.M.A.R.T
• Specific
  
• Measurable
• Attainable
• Results-oriented
• Time-bound
  

Goals should Be

• Each goal is specific in naming the skill or subject area and the targeted goal

• The goal is stated in a way that your child’s progress can be measured by standardized test, curriculum based measurements or screening.

Math

• The student will solve one- and two-step linear inequalities in one variable, including practical problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and graph the solution on a number line.

• By the end of the third grading period, using grade-level fictional reading materials and graphic organizers, the student will ask and answer questions about what is read, draw conclusions, and summarize the content with 80 percent accuracy.
